A sparkling literary event at Thorpe Manor with Brides Magazine

April 11, 2019

Thursday evening saw us at the newest, uber luxe Oxfordshire Wedding Venue, Thorpe Manor, providing the back drop for a Dinner and overnight stay in conjunction with Conde Nast Brides and a very discerning clientele which included; Jade Beer, editor in chief and The Brides Honeymoon Book club.  A lovely group of famous authors and influencers were invited for a ‘Sleepover at the Manor’, to experience the unadulterated luxury of a stay at Thorpe Manor.

Guests received a warm welcome by Tracey the Butler, whilst the Indulgence Team offered glasses of Pink Leoube Sparkling and Miniature Afternoon tea bites of salmon, cucumbers, macarons (of course!) and little shortbreads.  The guests then set off for a tour of the house by hosts, Natasha and Henry Teare, who have put their heart and soul into lovingly renovating the historic property.

Following an opportunity to freshen up and relax in the blissful bedrooms, canapés and pink Leoube Champagne were served in the bar. The Indulgence Team served delicious morsels of Warm Truffle Gougeres, Beetroot Macarons and Crab and Passion Fruit Salads. They were light, full of flavour and a little taster of delights to come.

Dinner was a ‘celebration of spring’ bursting with colour and flavour. The table was decorated with an array of spring flowers by the super talented Jess at Tiger by the Tail and table settings from the beautiful ranges at Duchess and Butler.  The 4-course menu featured; ceviche of sea bass, a garden plate of spring pickled vegetables, local Lamb and Asparagus and the finale was a delicious chocolate and peanut butter dessert. Entertainment included Anthony introducing each course to the guests, in his own special way! More amazing bottles of Leoube were served including their delicious, lesser known, red.  The clinking of glass and china combined with the noisy chatter of delighted guests was totally enchanting.

After dinner, Oli of Cotswold Distillery, had the cocktail bar in full swing serving their signature cocktail Cotswold Garden, a magical concoction of gin, apple juice and elderflower.   Finally, the evening rounded off with a showing of A Star is Born in the cinema room with popcorn and candy before guests headed off to bed.

The next morning was all about health and mindfulness, a Yoga session was followed by a relaxed grazing Kitchen breakfast. Fresh and healthy was the benchmark here, our own recipe nutty Granola, bowls of berries and power smoothies and Burford Brown eggs however you like them.

After time to relax, enjoy a walk in the gardens and chat over coffee, guests reluctantly departed from this haven of tranquillity and style, back to London life.

We felt truly honoured to be part of such a wonderful event and made even more enjoyable with words from guests ……
